Candle & Wax Melt Care & Safety
Candle Care & Safety:
- Always make sure the candle wick is trimmed to 1/4 inch before lighting each and every time! The candles sold in our store are always trimmed to this length, so you will most likely never need to trim our candle wicks shorter before the first burn. If a candle wick is not properly trimmed, the flame will become very high, flicker, and create additional soot.
- With whipped candle wax, it can be common for the flame to become larger if not trimmed properly before the initial light and also during the burn, due to the amount of air in the wax. If your flame becomes large while burning, extinguish your candle, trim the wick, and relight.
- Allow your candle to burn until a full melt pool is reached on the first burn, roughly 3-4 hours. This will prevent candle tunneling as it creates memory for the wax.
- Never burn a candle longer than 4 hours a time! The longer the candle burns, the hotter it will burn, and the flame will become much larger and more dangerous after 4 hours.
- Never burn a candle near drafts or near any flammable surfaces.
- Keep burning candle away from children and pets.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Please do not ever fall asleep or leave the house with a candle burning.
- Never put a flame out with water or any liquid, as this will cause a combustion and the candle is likely to explode. Use a candle snuffer or the candle lid to extinguish your candle.
- Discard your candle when 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the candle jar. Burning a candle with less wax than this remaining may cause an explosion.
